Launched in 2021, the program is designed to foster improved resident education surrounding recycling with a special focus on food and beverage cartons. Research conducted by the Carton Council reveals that local websites are the top place residents look to determine a package’s recyclability, second only to the package itself. The program included a series of webinars designed to foster improved education and marketing, as well as sharing challenges and best practices amongst the participants.

At the end of last year, participating communities were required to show that their websites accurately and clearly defined food and beverage carton recycling and also provide at least two other examples of communications and/or marketing activities conducted during the year that promote recycling.
