CalRecycle’s SB54 Advisory Board

The 16-person Advisory Board for the implementation of SB 54 met for the first time last Friday, February 2, 2024. The Advisory Board members include CPSC’s Executive Director, Doug Kobold, as the environmental agency representative, and CPSC’s Board Vice Chair Tedd Ward, Director of the Del Norte Solid Waste Management Authority, as the representative from a statewide rural county association.

The meeting included several question and comment segments, a presentation from the selected PRO, Circular Action Alliance (CAA), and the election of the Board Chair and other positions deemed necessary by the Board. The Advisory Board voted unanimously to elect Timothy Burroughs, Executive Director of StopWaste, as the official Board Chair. In addition, the Advisory Board agreed on the additional positions of Vice Chair and Secretary. We are excited to announce that Doug Kobold, Executive Director of CPSC and CRRA Vice President, was elected as Vice Chair of the SB 54 Advisory Board. Veronica Pardo, Regulatory Affairs Director of the Resource Recovery Coalition of California, was elected as the Secretary.

The Advisory Board agreed to begin hosting monthly meetings, from 10 AM to 5 PM for the next three months.
