Scholarship for CRRA Membership Scholarship

The California Resource Recovery Association (CRRA) has established a Scholarship Fund to provide funding for membership in one of California’s oldest and most influential non-profit recycling organizations. Discounted memberships will be granted each to year individuals in the Zero Waste industry.

Scholarship recipients will receive:

  • $100 credit to be applied towards one regular CRRA membership, a membership runs one (1) year from date of applying. The balance of the membership may be paid in installments, click here for details.
  • Participation in up to three (3) technical councils for one year
  • The opportunity to attend the annual conference at the discounted membership rate, participate in Mentorship programs
  • Access to all the benefits and discounts of membership

SELECTION PROCESS

Scholarships will be awarded to applicants who show evidence of a commitment to advocate for the Earth’s natural systems through their professional and personal endeavors in the Zero Waste industry.

EVALUATION CRITERIA

  1. Relevance: Will CRRA membership help the applicant achieve his or her specific career goals?
  2. Initiative: Has the applicant demonstrated continued dedication to Zero Waste?
  3. Communication: Are the ideas expressed in the application communicated effectively and efficiently?

APPLICATION PROCESS

Qualified individuals must submit the following materials to the Scholarship Committee in order to be considered:

  • Candidate may be new to industry or have up to ten (10) years in the industry. Anyone with more than ten years of industry related work experience will not be eligible.
  • A letter of recommendation from an employer in the Zero Waste industry who can speak to the applicant’s skills and commitment (optional).
  • A one-page statement describing why the applicant feels he or she should be awarded the scholarship. Consider including the following:
    • Specific ways in which the applicant will share the experience and acquired knowledge from CRRA membership with others.
    • What are the applicant’s career objectives? How will this scholarship help the applicant achieve his or her goals?
    • Does the applicant plan to attend CRRA’s 2020 Conference?  What benefit do they feel can be garnered from participation at the annual conference?

**Previous recipients may apply more than once, however priority will be given to first-time applicants.

Who Should Become a Member of CRRA?

The California Resource Recovery Association (CRRA) is an environmentally focused professional organization for people involved in resource conservation through waste prevention, reuse, recycling and composting activities. CRRA members use their collective knowledge and experience to create and help implement innovative solutions and programs to reduce material going to landfill. The Association works closely with the individuals and organizations that influence and shape conservation and waste prevention policy and programs. CRRA provides a variety of forums and venues that increase communication among government, industry and environmental organizations.
