Each year, the California Resource Recovery Association (CRRA) organizes one of the most comprehensive and informative conferences dedicated to recycling and sustainable materials management in California and beyond. CRRA is well known for its training and educational offerings since the early 1970s.  The Annual Conference and Tradeshow attracts over 600 individuals annually and showcases an estimated 30 sessions each year with over 100 industry experts as presenters. This year’s event will be held at the Oakland Marriott City Center, July 26-29, 2018.  Details are forthcoming, please be sure to join our mailing list for Conference updates.   Share your story, your experiences and your successes. The theme for was year is Sea Change – Weathering the Storm in the Recycling Industry.  From National Sword to organics diversion to food rescue, we are headed into uncharted waters, join us for compelling and innovative workshops, panels and conference sessions from our community of industry professionals!

KEYNOTE PRESENTATION: Vien Truong, Chief Executive Officer of the Dream Corps

Vien Truong is a policy expert and movement builder who has been a key architect to building an equitable and sustainable economy. She is Chief Executive Officer of the Dream Corps, which brings people together to solve America’s problems by backing initiatives that close prison doors and open doors of opportunity for all. The Dream Corps includes Green For All, which works to build an inclusive green economy to lift people out of poverty, #cut50, which works to reduce crime and incarceration in all 50 states, #YesWeCode, which works to help 100,000 young women and men of diverse backgrounds find success in the tech sector, and #LoveArmy, a national network of people committed to revolutionary love.

David Allaway, Senior Policy Analyst, Oregon Department of Environmental Quality

David Allaway is a senior policy analyst at the Oregon Department of Environmental Quality’s Materials Management Program. Since 1989, he has helped hundreds of businesses and communities, including many in California, to reduce the environmental impacts of materials and wastes. David led efforts to develop and update the nation’s first sub-national consumption-based greenhouse gas emissions inventory, served as an invited science advisor to Wal-Mart’s Packaging Sustainable Value Network, and served as an advisor to Paul Hawken’s Project Drawdown. A member of the West Coast Climate and Materials Management Forum’s leadership team, David has a B.A. in physics from Carleton College.

Daniel Silverstein, Clothing Designer, Zero Waste Pioneer

Daniel Silverstein is a New York based clothing designer and zero waste pioneer. In 2017 his story and brand went viral with more than 20 million views worldwide on features in Now This and Insider sharing his mission to end waste in the fashion industry one scrap at a time.  Now in its third year, Zero Waste Daniel has transformed literal tons of scrap material into a growing business.
