FREE WEBINAR: SB 54 – What You Need to Know
Jan 25, 2024 12:00-2:00 PM

This webinar will provide an overview of SB 54 – which will transform the management of packaging and to-go food ware in California in the years ahead.

The webinar will provide an overview of this law, and touch upon how it will establish new supports for reuse, cleanups, and provide support to rural and disadvantaged communities.

Sponsored by:

Speaker Lineup:

Timothy Burroughs, Executive Director, StopWaste (Alameda County Waste Management Authority)
Tedd Ward, Director, Del Norte Solid Waste Management Authority & Global Recycling Council of CRRA
Doug Kobold, Executive Director, California Product Stewardship Council & SWANA California Chapters Legislative Task Force
Kyra Seymour, Facilities & Programs Coordinator, Del Norte Solid Waste Management Authority & Prevention, Reuse and Repair Technical Council of CRRA

SB 54 Resource:

In an effort to help raise awareness about SB 54, StopWaste developed a template presentation that gives a general overview of the law and its potential implications for local governments.

The presentation slides and speaker notes are available for download here. Please share with others and feel free to use this as a resource as you spread the word about the law within your networks. And I know we will be collaborating moving forward on engaging local governments in this effort, including the upcoming Jan webinar.

A few notes on the template:

  • The primary intended audience for the presentation is local governments and their partners, however the presentation is designed to be customized and could be used for a variety of audiences.

  • The file is set to “read only” so you can either export to PowerPoint or save a copy within Google Slides to make edits.

  • We anticipate making tweaks to the slides and speaker notes as the regulatory process evolves; we will use the same file/link and update the “last updated” date on slide 1 when changes are made.

We encourage you to use the slides freely and to pass the link to others that may find it useful. Please let me know any questions in the meantime.
