Description:
The Green Building Program provides expertise to City departments and private entities on building design and construction that maximizes energy and resource efficiency and improves indoor environments for occupants. Green Building staff provides training and oversight to ensure compliance with relevant City ordinances. Green building staff must have experience in green building design and national and local green building standards. Specific areas of expertise include the following:
- Sustainable sites and landscaping
- Energy efficiency, renewable energy and climate protection
- Water efficiency
- Building materials that have recycled content and are durable, non-toxic, and recyclable. Includes construction waste management
- Indoor Environmental Quality
Example of Duties :
- Coordinates and implements green building ordinances as required.
- Coordinates green building projects and training in the private sector.
- Researches green building techniques and practices.
- Provides Green Building assistance to architects, engineers, and consultants.
- Manages databases.
- Assists or makes presentations on green building issues.
- Evaluates the effectiveness of green building projects and programs.
- Provides outreach to community and other jurisdictions as required.
- Manages technical assistance for green building services.
- Develops, administers, monitors, and coordinates budget.
- Prepares, compiles and distributes reports, including budget and financial reports, progress reports, and the other reports for distribution.
- Performs other duties as assigned.
