Program Background:
The mission of the City and County of San Francisco Department of the Environment (SF Environment) is to improve, enhance, and preserve the environment, and to promote San Francisco’s long-term environmental well-being. SF Environment includes Zero Waste, Toxics Reduction, Environmental Justice, Clean Air, Energy, Green Building and Public Information Programs.
Position Description:
The Web Marketing Coordinator will lead SF Environment’s efforts to produce online campaigns that are as cutting-edge as the Department’s environmental programs. The position will focus on web marketing to achieve environmental behavior change for San Francisco residents, businesses, and city government agencies.
Example of Duties :
- Research, manage, analyze and implement web marketing strategies including viral campaigns, banner ads, blogs, e-newsletters, e-marketing, SMS, social networking, and other online media communications to increase residential, commercial, and government sector participation in environmental programs
- Work with staff and city agencies to maintain websites through web designers and content management systems
- Research new outreach and marketing opportunities, focusing on new media and online communications technology
- Consult and collaborate with public relations and design agencies to ensure that web-marketing is integrated into broader SF Environment behavior change campaigns.
MInimum Qualifications:
- Possession of a baccalaureate degree from an accredited college or university, and three (3) years of professional experience. Two (2) years of this experience must be within the area of specialty; OR
- Possession of a baccalaureate degree in public administration, business administration, environmental science or a closely related field from an accredited college, and two (2) years of this experience must be within the area of specialty; AND
- Possession of a valid Driver’s License.
Desirable Qualifications:
- In-depth understanding and experience with online media
- Maximize effectiveness of web content and design
- Online advertising experience including banner ads, blogs, newsletters, e-marketing, SMS, and social networking
- Database management skills and ability to mine data
- Knowledge of public outreach, marketing, and behavior change methods to address environmental issues
- Experience working within a diverse community (bilingual in one of the commonly spoken languages in San Francisco a plus)
- Written and oral communication skills to work with staff and volunteers in a small team environment
