CA Collegiate Recycling Council
The California Collegiate Recycling Council (CCRC) is celebrating its 18th anniversary. The CCRC was initiated in 1994 as a technical council of California Resource Recovery Association. The purpose of the CCRC is to address the specific concerns and needs of the institutions of higher education throughout California. For those college and university campuses we are revising the website in order to provide more information on waste prevention and recycling activities at member colleges.
To this end, we are also changing our look and striving to broaden our membership base to make CCRC an even stronger resource and advocate for recycling at the college and university level. To be more effective, CCRC will implement the following changes starting in 2012:
- Launch of the new CCRC website will provide more relevant information, including updates and email alerts on issues of relevance to our members.
- New links to campus recycling websites to help bolster CCRC as the source for recycling information at California campuses of higher education.
- On-line posting of a comprehensive College and University Recycling manual.
- Sponsorships of regional field trips and meetings to recycling facilities to:
- Increase knowledge and understanding of markets
- Improve networking opportunities for campus recycling professionals.
Through our e-mail discussion group, workshop sponsorships, the regional college network with member colleges and universities we hope to provide a value-added service to our technical council members.
It is our belief that by providing aggressive waste prevention and recycling programs on all of our campuses, we can successfully provide an alternative learning experience wherein faculty, students and staff take responsibility for the waste they produce, and lead by example – as we achieve Zero Waste!
