CRRA Logo Spring is a busy time for CRRA!  Elections are underway, and planning for the upcoming annual conference is in full swing. Be sure to read on for all the details!

To help you stay in touch with what CRRA is doing, each month we'll provide an update on the activities, letter writing and organizing that is taking place.

 
CRRA successfully organized a policy workshop on "Reducing Greenhouse Gases by Composting Organics.  The workshop was attended by nearly 100 people in addition to being viewed worldwide via webcast.  Copies of the powerpoint presentations, the webcast, a press release on the coaltion formed during the workshop and an article by Scott Smithline recapping key points, can all be viewed online.  Click here for more information.

CRRA 2007 Conference

Nominations for the CRRA Annual Awards are being Accepted
Awards will be presented at the 31st annual CRRA Conference in San Pedro July 31, 2007. The Awards Committee must receive all nominations by 5PM, Friday April 20th, 2007. Click links for information;and an application.

Registration is Coming
As you may have noticed, registration is not yet available. This is because CRRA is going fully automated this year.  The new on-line system will be nearly paperless and save hundreds of man-hours.  Get ready, because our new online system will be launched shortly.  CRRA will be extending early-bird rates this year due to the delays.  Attendees and Exhibitors should check the CRRA website frequently for updates.

  CRRA Annual Elections

2007 CRRA Board and Technical Council Elections
Nominations are now being accepted for the following CRRA elected positions:

· One Northern District Board Member Position
· One Central District Board Member Position
· One Southern District Board Member Position
· Seven Local Agency Technical Council Positions
· Four Venues & Special Events Recycling Council Positions
· Ten Global Recycling Council Positions

If you would like to run for any of these positions, your membership must be current. You will also need to fill out our electronic nomination form and send in an electronic picture. Click here for the nomination form and more details on the election process.

EPA Challenge logoCall for Entries:  Lifecycle Building Challenge

Ideas, policies, tools and designs on reducing construction and
demolition debris are being sought for the
Lifecycle Building Challenge
http://www.lifecyclebuilding.org.  The competition is open to students
and professionals and registration ends
April 15, 2007 .  Winners will
receive free conference registration to West Coast Green and recognition
at the conference.  The three student winners will each receive $2,500 cash awards from our sponsor, GreenBuildingBlocks.com.  The Challenge partners are the U.S. EPA, American Institute of Architects, Building Materials Reuse Association, and West Coast Green.

The California Resource Recovery Association ( CRRA ) is a statewide recycling association in California with over 500 recycling professionals and practitioners as members.

Founded in 1974, The CRRA is a non-profit 501(C)3 organization dedicated to promoting waste reduction, reuse, recycling, pollution prevention, and composting. The CRRA works to expand markets for recycled materials, promotes sustainable materials policies and is a clearinghouse for information, innovation, and industry and governmental initiatives.  CRRA is the premier organization for linking like-minded individuals from every facet of the industry. Non-profits, waste haulers, recyclers, state, federal and local government, academic institutions, recycled product manufacturers, and many others come together under the CRRA umbrella.
