Member Dues Information

At its June 2003 Board conference call, the Board decided that the new membership structure would have two categories of membership:

  • Regular membership (business/government/individual)
  • Student/non-profit membership.

Annual dues were raised to levels that more accurately reflect the actual administrative costs of the running organization and provide member benefits. New rates are $181 for regular members and $100 for student/non-profit members. Both categories of membership include NRC membership and both levels are entitled to member discounts at CRRA events and full member benefits.

Membership Renewal Term

The Board also decided that membership renewal invoices would be sent to all members by November 1 of each year, with membership dues due by January 1 of the following calendar year. This was done to streamline and simplify the billing process as well as to collect funds during the time of year when CRRA historically has limited income.

Billing Calculations (Prorated for 2004)

Currently, members join CRRA at various times throughout the year, and their annual membership is valid for one full year, for example, September 30, 2003 to September 30, 2004 . Therefore, when the Board changed the standard membership period to January 1 through December 31, most members will have a credit balance remaining on their membership periods. In the example given, the member would have nine full months of membership remaining in calendar year 2004, as of January 1, 2004 .

The committee recommends that credit be issued on a per-month basis. In the example given, the member would owe CRRA for 3 months' worth of membership to bring their membership up to a full calendar year. At $181 per year, or $15.00 per month, that member would be invoiced for $45.00.

Currently, expiration dates can be any day of the month. For purposes of transitioning to the new system, the committee proposes that CRRA round to the nearest month. Expiration dates from the first to the fifteenth will round down to the first of the month, and expiration dates from the sixteenth to the end of the month will round up to the end of the month.

Grace period

If dues are not paid by January first, CRRA will send another reminder notice, and if dues are not paid by January 31 st , then membership will be considered expired.
