The CSBC will be an alliance of existing California organizations around California working on sustainable business practices, policies and programs, including:

• Business environmental groups and Sustainable business groups,
• Service providers  (e.g., consultants, product suppliers, equipment vendors, testing/monitoring services, and collection/treatment services)
• Nonprofit organizations, academic and consumer groups and
• Involved federal, state, regional and local government agencies that are working with businesses to improve their environmental performance as their principal responsibility

• Helping businesses with their triple bottom line
• Helping align environmental restoration and economic success and helping businesses to thrive that restore the environment
• Helping develop a sustainable economy in California where businesses work to meet the needs of the present while enhancing the ability of future generations to meet their needs.

• Share information about model business programs and services offered by different groups around the state
• Organize and support statewide services, events and activities not presently offered to address sustainability issues
• Promote best practices in sustainability for both small and large businesses
• Educate and involve alliance organizations in state and local policy discussions about sustainability and
• Enhance capacity of alliance organizations to be more effective
