Committee Member Application Process

CRRA currently has five active committees. These committees meet monthly, via teleconference. Committee’s are made up of at least two Boardmembers. Existing committees are looking for members to participate and assist with ongoing organizational and developmental activities. There is no predetermined length of commitment. To be eligible to participate on a committee, applicants must be a current member of CRRA. Additionally, applicants are asked to apply for committee for which they have specific expertise, knowledge or interest of the tasks being performed. Each committee will determine how many additional members are needed. Applicants must be available to participate in monthly teleconferences. Please complete the attached application via mail or email to the appropriate committee chair. All questions should be directed the committee chair for which you are applying.

Committees

Administration Committee:
The Administration Committee is responsible to oversee the operational management of the organization, including contract review and management, updating the Bylaws and internal policies and identifying management needs. Ongoing activities include maintenance and amending of the Internal Policy, preparation of the annual budget; oversee taxes and audits, as well as overall fiscal policy for expenditure and reimbursement. Currently, the committee is tasked with developing guidelines and a job description for hiring of an Executive Director and determining adequate management/staffing needs of the organization.

Conference Committee:
The Conference Committee develops the Annual Conference. The committee has several subcommittees which are currently meeting.

DevCom Committee:
(Short for Development and Communications). This committee is responsible to focus on intermediate and long-term strategies to increase both membership and funding from outside organizations and to improve communication materials and policies in support of development and member satisfaction. This is a very active committee which oversees Recyclescene (the organizations newsletter), electronic communications such as website and listserv, printed communication such as brochures and letterhead and all other media outlets. This year the committee is working on, blogging capabilities, global webcasting of the annual conference, online interactive meeting capabilities, archiving of all conference proceedings, A “members only” section of the web site and an interactive member database. In addition, the committee is responsible for fundraising and member services. The committee works to expand and communicate the benefits available to members, survey the members and develop strategy for member recruitment.

Policy and Legislation Committee:
The Policy and Legislation Committee is responsible to keep CRRA involved in CA resource management issues; and opportunities to influence National and International issues effecting California . And to involve CRRA members and other organizations, identifying emerging issues and provide timely and thoughtful input. The committee develops and advocates legislative policy direction for the organization. It initiates external policy resolutions and develops CRRA legislative priorities. Currently the committee is planning workshops that will identify future CRRA policy issues and to develop strategies to implement the RMA.

Program Committee:
The Program Committees is tasked with developing training and certification availability for all recycling professionals and to enhance relations and interaction with technical councils, CRRA chapters, NRC, ARD and other partners. The committee serves as the liaisons with all CRRA TC’s, Chapters and partnering organizations and agencies. The committee is currently is developing a CRRA Training Certification Program.
