RecycleMania: Making
Recycling Competitive at Colleges
and Universities
How do you motivate college students
to think about recycling and
waste reduction in between studying
and their social lives? Begun
six year ago as a challenge between
two Ohio universities, Recyclemania
harnesses the competitive spirit
found on college campuses to motivate
students to reduce and recycle.
Schools across the country square
off in categories ranging from overall
per capita recycling to lowest total
waste generation. This session will
feature an overview of the competition
followed by a panel discussion
with recycling coordinators from a
handful of the over 200 schools participating
nationwide. |

Recycling Education to Schools
Mike di Milo and Lynn Haley will share
their tips, tricks and views to help maximize your speaking skills and
education efforts. They will demonstrate presentation techniques and
hands-on tools for various grade levels and community groups. You will gain
knowledge about planning basics and will be motivated to put your program
into high gear! Science Discovery's school education program, administered
on behalf of the San Luis Obispo County Integrated Waste Management
Authority, presented 400 classroom programs and 125 field trips last school
year. |
