Parking Information

Using public transportation or taking a shuttle from the airport? Read no further.

If you are driving into the conference, we want to make sure you can find a parking space for your car as easy as possible.  Downtown San José offers more than 21,000 parking spaces, with some parking garages located in close proximity to the Fairmont Hotel.  However, parking could be challenging due to two major events occurring around the same time as CRRA.

Allow yourself enough time to find parking (you don't want to miss the opening plenary or sessions on each of the conference days!) The Fairmont offers limited valet parking for $22 per day.  However, if the
parking lot under the Fairmont is full or you don't want to pay $22 per day, we suggest the following:
  1. Familiarize yourself with the parking locations in downtown San Jose by visiting:www.sjdowntownparking.com.
  2. Purchase a parking pass.  CRRA has arranged for a discounted parking pass at San JoséState University's 4th Street parking garage (map on Page 11 on conference program).  The cost of this pass is $15 and is good for the whole week of the conference. The garage has 24 hour police staffing and the permit provides in and out privileges.

How Do you Get a Parking Ticket?

Please purchase tickets at the CRRA registration desk in the Market Street Foyer at the Fairmont. Tickets are not available at the parking facility.  To get your ticket, you can either pay to park at the Fairmont for an hour, if space is available, or try parking at one of the meters out front around the Cesar Chavez Plaza or in the lot or parking garage behind the hotel which are FREE on the weekends.  The auto court at the Fairmont is fairly small, so depending on how busy it is, the bellmen, may or may not let you park there to go and purchase a parking pass.

Since it may be inconvenient to transport your luggage from the San Jose State lot, we suggest taking your luggage if you are staying overnight and checking into the hotel at this time. Then go to registration and purchase your parking pass.  Once you have parked, you can either walk back to the Fairmont, or take the Free Downtown Area Shuttle (DASH):  http://www.vta.org/schedules/SC_804.html .  The DASH has a stop across the street from the 4th Steet Parking Garage and a stop at San Carlos and Market--a half block walk to the Fairmont.

Parking in downtown San Jose is usually not bad, but there are two very large events happening at the same time as the CRRA Conference so we thought outlining these steps would be helpful to you and start off the conference on a good note.  Look forward to seeing you in San Jose.

Additional Information
We strongly recommend using the public transportation, hybrid car, and car sharing during the conference.  Downtown San José offers a variety of public transportation, Light Rail, VTA buses, and a free Down Town Area Shuttle (DASH).  Please visit the following websites for more information.
