BEST MANAGEMENT PRACTICES FOR SUSTAINABLE BUSINESSES
Sustainable business programs provide insight on helpful tips for local governments
to encourage businesses to divert more waste. Learn about the StopWaste.Org’s Sustainable Business Rating System and Bay Area Green Business program. Independent recyclers will also provide prospective of added value by providing paper shredding, construction and demolition site cleanup, and specialized services where hauling is done incidentally or for free.

I WASTE U WASTE wE all WASTE
California continues to lead in ridding landfills of hazardous materials. On February 9, the Universal Waste Ban took effect, requiring the proper disposal of “universal waste” at designated facilities and collection sites. Industry experts will discuss the new legislation and program recommendations.

SPEED DATING WITH LOCAL GOVERNMENT
The Local Agency Technical Council will be sponsoring an interactive session on five hot local government topics that will be presented in a unique “speed-dating” style format where all the participants will be able to fully interact with the panel on the issues. Topics include recycling program funding, integrating recycling collection enclosure plans, social marketing and outreach, and solid waste ordinances as a tool for change.
